|“THE INSTANT A TOUCH IS MADE, THINGS ARE SET IN MOTION. MAKE A DRAWING TO REACH OUT AND BE TOUCHED. DRAWING TOGETHER WE ARE DRAWN TOGETHER. THIS IS HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD, ON MICRO AND MACRO LEVELS, INDIVIDUALLY AND COLLECTIVELY. BY CONNECTING IN SPACES FOR IMAGINATION – BY DETERMINING WHAT TO SHARE AND HOW TO SHARE IT – WE CAN CREATE A GREATER OUTCOME.”
This is how Ai Weiwei and Olafur Eliasson describe their collaborative project, Moon. We love the idea of collective imagination changing the future, so we brought together the Netherlands and Flanders (the 2016 Frankfurt Book Fair’s guest of honor), THE ARTS+ and Studio Olafur Eliasson. “This is what we’re sharing” is the 2016 motto of the book fair’s guest of honor, and we approached artists from the region to ask them to draw or write on the virtual moon and share their wishes with future generations. The results of the collaboration will be shown in 9 short video clips to 2,500 guests at the book fair’s prestigious opening – among them members of the royal families of Belgium and the Netherlands, as well as politicians, writers, publishers and artists.
Studio Olafur Eliasson will also set up a Moon drawing booth in the exhibition area THE ARTS+, where everybody can take part in this collective and inter-terrestrial art experiment. Visit http://moonmoonmoonmoon.com to make a drawing. Tag it with #FBM16 to join the community!
