Famous new media artist & initiator of lean artist accelerator
Jeremy Bailey is a self-proclaimed Famous New Media Artist based in Toronto. Since the early noughties Bailey has ploughed a compelling, and often hilarious, road through the various developments of digital communications technologies. Ostensibly a satire on, and parody of, the practices and language of “new media,” the jocose surface of Bailey’s work hides an incisive exploration of the critical intersection between video, computing, performance, and the body.” (Morgan Quaintance, Rhizome) His work has been shown widely including recent exhibitions and performances at Whitechapel Gallery, the ICA and Southbank Centre in London, Rhizome’s Seven on Seven, The Whitney Museum andThe New Museum in New York, Mediamatic and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and Transmediale in Berlin. This year Bailey will premier new work for Resonate in Belgrade, incubate a baby in VR with his wife Kristen, help redesign the Node Forum for Digital Arts in Frankfurt, lead a residency at Praksis in Oslo, record over 40 episodes of the art and technology podcast Good Point with cohost Rafael Rozendaal and launch 4 new artist startups as part of his Lean Artist Accelerator in partnership with The Moving Museum in London.
