Julia Stoschek is a private collector for contemporary art based in Germany. She was born in 1975 in Coburg, Germany and studied Business Management in Bamberg.
In 2007 Julia Stoschek founded the JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION, an international private collection of contemporary art with a focus on time-based media art in Duesseldorf, Germany. In an ongoing exhibition program in Duesseldorf and collaborative projects in other public institutions, the main intention is to present and document the different aspects of the collection, which includes the scientific analyses of the content of the works, highlighting art-historical references within the collection and revealing connections between individual works of time-based media. Her exhibition space is open to the public and receives about 10,000 visitiors a year.
Furthermore Julia Stoschek’s engagement includes several memberships in Duesseldorf and abroad. She is part of the Board of Directors at KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, Member of the Board of Management at Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen, Duesseldorf, Member of the Acquisitions Commission at Kunstsammlung NRW, Duesseldorf, Member of the Board of Directors at MoMA/PS 1, New York , Member of the Supervisory Board at Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Member of the Tate International Council, London and Member of the Whitney Museum of Modern Art Performance Committee in New York.
