Conceptual Artist & Project Designer
Norbert Krause promotes thinking outside the box. Born in 1980 in Mönchengladbach, Krause is a conceptual artist and project designer. In this capacity he revitalizes public space by running a 1 m²- radio station called Radio Eicken or teaches the city of Möchengladbach how to ride a bike in the framework of 200 Tage Fahrradstadt (200 Days City of Bicycles). Krause’s projects are to be understood as catalysts. They trigger and accelerate transformative societal processes – always with a touch of humour and taking pleasure in the thing itself. Seriously!
Under the brand ‚krauses‘ Norbert Krause designs projects for cities, foundations and institutions.
Methodically, he builds upon the three steps approach as developed in the context of “200 Days City of Bicyclces”: demonstrate – participate – do it yourself. This approach goes beyond participation, activating specific target groups and thus ensuring a project’s impact beyond its immediate scope. It pursues an activation of target audiences and aims for sustainability beyond the end of the project.
