Founder & Designer, nat-2™
Sebastian Thies, founder and designer of nat-2, represents the 6th generation of shoemakers since 1856. Born into one of the oldest shoe-dynasties in Europe, he founded the brand in 2007 in Munich, Germany. As one of his first innovations he and launched the world’s first ever 2 in 1 shoe, which was developed behind closed doors over several years and won him a red dot nomination. Thies has received various international design awards such as the German Brand Award, Red Dot, Innovation & Design, Ispo Brandnew Award and has worked with companies such as Sony, Activision, Hasbro, Paramount, Will Smith, Gabor and MCM.
nat-2™ was founded in 2007 by Sebastian Thies, 6th generation shoe designer since 1856 in Munich. nat-2™ is a highly progressive brand combining innovative materials with futuristic designs paying hommage to german industrial style and the Bauhaus movement.
Thies roots lie in the early 90ies graffiti, street- and boardsport culture, admiring the innovative power of the techy, cool 80ies. nat-2 is about passion and style and therefore the brand is not stuck with cliches, following its own path and ideas. Recently nat-2 is going strong with the world’s first wooden sneakers.
nat-2 has won several international design awards, has been shown in re-known museums already and early customers are LaRinascente Milano, Opening Ceremony Tokyo, Level Dubai and i.t. Hong Kong with Galeries Lafayette Beijing
Latest projects have been the world’s first vegan wooden sneakers, real stone sneakers and rainboots made from recycled corn.
